How do we choose the wedding photographer? – In my vision, I am Dana Rosu Wedding Planner

The photographer must capture moments in such a way that they create feelings.

But how can we choose it?

We have so many different photography offerings and styles. Trained, professional photographers, others less trained, but with an impeccable image… and looking at them like that becomes difficult!

Dear brides, first of all the first step you need to take is to identify which style of event photography you prefer.

As Wedding Planners, we identified ourselves 6 photography styles for events :

– Classic style – The photographer works starting from the traditional requests that are usually made at a wedding. It respects exactly the photographic rituals that we find mostly on the market. These are standard wedding photos

– Style Journalism/Portrait Photographer – It is a more documentary style, in which the photographer does not necessarily assign a price to classic and traditional requests, but tries to create a narrative of the entire wedding. Normal, natural, no or very few wedding photos are used. He doesn’t like still frames (i.e. frames in which the guests appear next to each other or in a group, and are forgotten in the frame)

– Fashion style – It is a style that takes into account the outfits, the personality of the brides, the lights, the well-defined frames. Their creation is based on a concept that brides want to convey.

If you like the idea of ​​a well-researched concept, it would be a good idea to implement it before the event. Why? So that the homogenization of ideas and your vision are in agreement with that of the photographer.

Style: ideal 🙂– This is a combination between the 3 styles mentioned above. He also adds photos in his own style, all captured with care and relaxation. It adapts to the moment and captures emotions, like no other. It offers portrait, product and fashion photography at its best. He is a wonderful photojournalist.

– Atypical style – He takes nothing into account, no tradition, no need, he does everything as he pleases, according to his own procedures. Here you can have an extreme surprise: pleasant or unpleasant. Great attention!

– Still amateur – Without experience, without sufficient studies, without high-performance equipment, but an extraordinary sales agent. He can also clarify things for you much better than the performance photographer. All this because he has the art of selling – be careful again!!

Information:

-between 5-10% of weddings know from the start what style they would like

– 20% are informed during the course before signing the contract

– 40% signs at wedding fairs according to the portfolio presented there

-30% is based on «the photographer knows what he has to do, it’s just that this is his job»»

And this is how many bad moods arise, photos that don’t represent you.

Do not choose the wedding photographer in the following situations:

– He refuses to meet you before the event. A good photographer arranges a meeting with you in person or on Skype if the distance is many km. He will identify your desires, anticipate needs and answer all questions

– Don’t choose a photographer without seeing their portfolioand here I am not referring to the photos chosen specifically for the catalog (these are certainly the most beautiful photos). Ask him to show you 80-100 photos of another wedding or just 1-2 head-to-head events

– The wedding photographer cannot be a friend, a known person Or a familiar just because he says he’s good. He may not have too much technical knowledge, equipment and experience. Bottom line: I don’t think you want to experience your soul’s marriage!

– Don’t choose a photographer just because they’re cheap! Don’t choose it for this reason, because your photos could turn out to be poor, that is, of poor quality, like the price you paid.

Choose a photographer where the quality/price ratio is as balanced as possible!

A professional/performance photographer is never cheapbecause there are a lot of investments behind it! Funding for training, studies, equipment, experience, etc. I do all this: the professional photographer today!

– The photographer refuses to conclude a contractin short, you say «goodbye» to him! You don’t want surprises on the big day!

How much does the wedding/event photographer cost you?

An event/wedding photographer costs us between 5-10% of the amount allocated per/guest. This depends on how important the photo is to you.

How should the photographer behave on your wedding day?

I’m a Wedding Planner, not an image consultant, but I still think that a casual-elegant outfit wouldn’t break. If it’s difficult, then we wear a simple outfit. This can be accomplished with a shirt, a pair of chinos and sneakers in the simplest way possible. The photos, like me, remain for hours: all due respect, my dear colleagues. And I start events with heels, and in the end… God I enjoy a pair of flats, the lake is real, but all flats are…

I don’t think you want photographers in shorts and trunks unless the wedding is on the beach. But the fact that there is an imposed dress code, already announced on the invitation, is another thing.

Does the photographer have to be from the same location as you?

No words, no story, they can move, the main idea is to be in your soul. My Clujs are wonderful, well-trained photographers who walk everywhere. Like others across the country. Romania has quality photographers, you just have to find them!

Why is it nice to meet the photographer before the event?

– First of all, don’t feel uncomfortable at the wedding! Face to face, many hours with a stranger, maybe unpleasant and sad, maybe it has nothing to do with how you feel! Plus, you have to smile at them all day!

– SYou better know the portfolio he prepared, but to see 1-2 weddings, CAP-Coada

– There is a correspondence between your desires and what he photographs and transmits

– learn about their technique, equipment and experience

– to answer all your questions

– To be compatible, there is chemistry between you, empathy, and if he is aggravatable and has a sense of humor, he has everything

What do these costs entail?

* Exactly how much does it cost to photograph the event

* How much do extra things cost: photo albums, paintings, sticks, etc.

*does he come alone, with an assistant, or do we want more photographers? If yes, what’s the difference?

* Photographic session before and after the wedding, price, availability, renovation according to need

* How long do you receive photos except albums?

* In what exact form do you teach yourself?

* Does it keep children safe on a server, if so, for how long?

* payment method

* Overall costs (transport, accommodation, wedding menu, etc.)

Why is the wedding photo so complex?

Well, precisely from the fact that it has to cover many styles and a great deal of experience is required.

What if the photographer doesn’t have enough experience?

At a wedding, everything goes quickly, as you know! The photographer must adapt to any light situation in a short time. (Example: Now you are in church where there is darkness, diffused light and the next minute you are outside, with all the guests, where it is sunny. Without experience, good that it has no way of going well, profi, as it should!)

Aside from taking photos, what does the wedding/event have to do?

The bride and groom are usually not photographers and the camera causes them emotions. Emotions sometimes prevent them from behaving naturally. It is the photographer’s job to take them out of stress and put them back at ease. In the state in which they are natural and the emotions you will see in the photo, will only be their love and happiness!
