Shorten your dress! – Wedding planner Victorita Axinescu

If I do a search on St. Google, for the keyword «wedding dress«I appear none other than two hundred and forty-five thousand results. The first few pages, somewhere up to fifteen (which I had the patience to check) are almost entirely pages of fashion houses, shops and wedding dresses from all over the country. So, over 140 shops (there are many more, obviously) full of clothes that, rather than by trend, follow the new collections of the great clothing designers, in terms of material and budget. Consultants work in each of these stores, I think mostly women. There is a possibility that the women who work there will also get married. At least part of it. Because a single woman doesn’t work in a bridal shop, but three and up. So, it is likely that at least someone would have put a wedding dress on it, on a sunny day, and not taken it off the next morning, after eating the cake of their choice and appreciating the envelopes placed in the gift box.

Well, where do I want to go? If in every wedding dress there is at least one woman who has lived the experience of her own personal wedding, I don’t understand one thing. Why, nice and kind ladies, but why can’t you explain it to the next bride Does the dress get shorter? That the wedding dress shouldn’t touch the floor? That there is nothing wrong with seeing the muzzle of the shoe? That the (too long) wedding dress stays beautiful for an hour, maybe two, until you dry it all on the street?

I’m not talking about clothes that are stupidly tailored or not tailored, although I’ve heard some horror stories about that recently. I’m talking about the dresses we get in the shop (or workshop), which are tried on at least twice, one of which is obligatory with the shoes chosen for the wedding. When you stand on the podium in the fitting room – which most stores have – and say «yes, I think I could stay like this, still, 24 hours, to look good in this beautiful dress, which I paid more than my parents and future husband». When you feel that it’s a little difficult to take a walk, but the saving solution comes – «let’s put a circle» says the woman who has just sold you an item of clothing worth 5 months’ rent with conviction. Let’s put a circle on a Line dress, which shouldn’t have a circle, because God forbid it somehow gets into this dress and does our job all the way.

Why is it important to shorten your dress a little more than you think? Ladies (and gentlemen), if you are not a dancer or other athlete, a tiring day follows. Actually, a tiring day for anyone. The problem is that, since it is a long day, your posture will undergo a small change from the early hours of the morning until the evening. This is what happens to all of us, every day longer We don’t wear floor-length dresses every day to understand this (Okay, us, the normal ones, at least!). At the end of a tiring day, we will find ourselves with our shoulders to the left and our spine less straight than in the first hour of the day. Let’s wander, Romanian. It is the body’s natural reaction to fatigue. This is how we manage to keep the dress beautiful and «empty» a bit of ourselves. I’m not counting the lack of support behind me here. If your dress has a corset that tightens only on the bust, at a certain point, perhaps before leaving church or even at the first dance, you will feel that things don’t fit well, neither there «up» nor anywhere else.

So one and one equal two. You also need two. Specifically, the fingers. The dress should fall two fingers’ distance from the floor (floor, tiles, parquet, etc.). Whatever someone would tell you, that it is bad to see the muzzle of the shoe, that it is not good and that it is fine otherwise, I tell you that it is better to avoid the following situation: you are preparing for the first dance, with all the emotions in the world and you go to a more secluded place, to repeat the steps, to make sure that Him Don’t step on the dress. Be stupid by saying that there is a very high chance of preventing you, because the dress reaches two fingers below the shoes. Run like crazy after the safety needles and start crying. Don’t cry (just) because you will step on your dress, but because you are tired. And since you have emotions and would like to enjoy everything that happens, only you have no way, because the danger of destroying your splendid dress (and to which you have given the value of about five rents) terrifies you…

I always have safety needles with me. More recently, I also have a small sewing kit after, at one of the weddings this season, I was supposed to sew some tulle that had unraveled from the dress. But you shouldn’t. Because the dresses should only be slightly shorter. For my peace of mind, the bridesmaids and noses everywhere!
