Daniela and Kunal – authentic Romanian wedding

I met Daniela last year, in the middle of summer, when she was permanently looking for the sun, and I was trying to maintain a balance between the wedding of the season and the projects that would come for this year. I learned early on that she wants a traditional, light-hearted wedding, which will be a natural complement to the civil wedding in Scotland and the traditional religious wedding in India.

I have not had clients who would have lived the experience of two other weddings, until the final one. No traditional weddings, in itself, I didn’t organize it. Challenge acceptedI said! And we met soon, we talked about the poppies, the popular motifs, the wipes and the ideal place, then about their plans for the other two weddings… So many details were on paper, that I left the first encounter with butterflies and emotions alone.

There followed a period of looking at potential locations and I admit it wasn’t the easiest mission. We had to find the perfect mix between authentic Romanian food and the place being traditional, but not rustic, and with lots of green space. We decided together with Casa Vlăsia, which satisfied all the conditions and began an adventure always looking for the perfect mix. Be Romanian, but not rustic, be authentic, but not useless and so on…

Choosing the photographer was one of the simplest decisions. I had been watching Mihai Zaharia for a while and knew that things would go as naturally as possible after meeting him for coffee and discussing what would happen to the two’s marriage. Mihai inspired me with a lot of calm, he is the kind of man you want to have around when emotions are great and moments pass quickly around you. Daniela agrees with me. Seen, pleasant, chosen. 🙂

The wedding dress was created after a somewhat unusual schedule. I was at an intermediate fitting with another dear customer, Andreea, when I realized that it would be the right time to come with Daniela to a first fitting and see the models made by Blossom Dress. I can’t mix things up, but I felt things were going well (and my schedule all season), so I took a chance. So Daniela was left sighing after two models: one for the Romanian tradition, the other more correct. The final decision was made later, after searching for authentic-traditional-magical strings, which did not want to be part of our story and after purchasing a few pairs of shoes. A girl loves her shoes! Especially the ones with poppies 🙂

Bride preparations, traditions

Discussions on the topic have slipped into other elections. We didn’t have a full brainstorming session, I don’t think any of us felt the need to go into detail. We decided to make things natural and simple. We weren’t filling each other up, things were clear to both of us. All the ideas I put into practice were natural choices in context.

For the creations involving flowers, we put together all the details, but we knew exactly who we could collaborate with for an impactful effect: Codruța (Eventi Bianchi) came to our aid with ideas and solutions just when we needed something more.

rustic floral arrangements

I talked a little about flowers, I also chose the authentic Romanian voice, Andreea Feraru, a special and very talented man. We were discussing the guests and were also setting up an authentic Romanian corner, with traditional snacks that the guests would serve in the first part of the event.

At the end of the preparations I also decided on the details of the stationery and testimonies. For the first one I found recycled cardboard that I fell in love with. I quickly got through one model for the entire set. The testimonials were ordered by Daniela, from a craftsman who paints «mosses» and «babes» on wooden spoons. They fit perfectly into the decor, but also as a special souvenir of the wedding. Mine is in the kitchen, tied to a wardrobe door 😉

One of the key moments of the party was Daniel’s surprise for Kunal, three dancers from the Indra Dance band, who entertained all the invitations with classical Indian dances.

Then followed the moment of Romanian folk dance, for which I chose the Doinița ensemble, a group of energetic dancers with great success with the public. I wouldn’t have expected anything different from a Romanian wedding!

party

Alex Vișan has long been my ace in the hole for weddings for which we are looking for a good and dedicated DJ. It’s not easy to find people who understand in three words what style of music you prefer, so keep everyone on track! Alex does this, he’s a thoughtful DJ and I think he enjoys discovering new people and tastes at every event.

The bride did not steal (even if there were “external” suitors), but the Romanian wedding was felt! I regret not having reached the next day’s soup, which I understand has left again with a Romanian party, this time in Daniel’s parents’ court!
