Because I don’t like wedding fairs

Wedding fairs in Romania are growing year by year, organizers rent larger spaces, fairs appear in towns and cities, reasons why I am convinced that the wedding fair, in itself, is a good business. Two years ago I also participated (with the events agency) in a fair like this, even in the largest and noisiest car park. I said that it will be great, that it’s something good to do, that it brings you «brand awareness» (an extremely sophisticated way of saying you see the world) and that, after all, what could be so bad? I knew I wouldn’t leave there with signed contracts. I also knew that it was difficult to sell planning services exactly where you are ready to buy and at what price. But I was. And I did well, because I understood that I would not have had the same experience. At least not until some things change. I don’t like fairs. Those from us, who I also walked – that is, in Bucharest – or heard stories about. Maybe there are some beautiful fairs. If they are, I apologize to them, because they are put in the unfavorable light of these big, ugly ones.

There are many of you who share the flyer, who offer you the greatest package of services and, why not, who give you a considerable discount, because you are dear to them… If these people impress you, it is really possible to donate «Fortune» Above you, with the DJ offering you for the same price and a light system included, a smoke car, a balloon car and, possibly, a martisor as a gift. Or with the photographer who offers you a minimum of 1960 photos during the wedding, plus photo services and free «without number» albums – all at the price of 580 euros, discount from 900! – And which, in the best case scenario, also comes with an authentic wallet. I mean, with photos of weddings he actually worked on.

Now, if you’re feeling super noorocos/bone, go get a lottery ticket. Who knows how the circle of extraordinary things that happen to you widens?

The idea of the fair, in itself, is not necessarily a bad one. The fact that you can, in one day, buy a wedding dress, choose your own invitations, sign a contract with a photographer and see some DJs seems incredible, even heavenly. And it probably is, especially for people with great patience and iron determination. The difference will be made by the suppliers we find at the fairs. To all or just some of them. I’m speaking in general because I can’t deny that there are many ok companies or talented people who promote their work through events like this.

If you want to bring them all from one placein a day, it seems to be the best solution for you. If you want a discount, however small, you’re not particularly interested Little understanding More than having the guarantee of a job well done, the wedding fair must be a little paradise, to be explored, even two days in a row, if necessary.

Irony aside, the fact is that wedding fairs aren’t for anyone.

If your wedding has more to do with you and your loved one than what’s in fashion (or what was in fashion last year, actually, and wedding dresses) or if you like to see people in a context that fosters, how much, a relationship, if you want to choose your florist, photographer, videographer, choreographer and any other supplier sympathy, qualities and tastesNO the offerthen you might regret stopping by.

Wedding fairs gather all kinds of suppliers under one roof, some better, some weaker, some more kitschy, some more talented, letting people choose among them, without giving them the time and space that will at least mimic a dignified meeting between client and supplier. Vendors will go home with split flyers, hoping to hit their sales target on at least the last day. Some will look bad for participating, because they probably didn’t have access to their ideal customers. Others will be happy to have emptied the flyers, with no further interest.

You? You will see many, too many options in one day. You will hear prices, higher and lower, some even falseothers more realistic. You will get some hope or at least an idea of the things you want. Or not. In the end you will return home (almost) crying, looking for a basket in which to put all the flyers, catalogues, magazines, offers and business cards that He looked right through you And that you will probably never see.
